Background
Background: I am an Interior Designer with over 30 years experience since training at Chelsea School of Art. I have worked mainly on residential interiors initially in London for David Hicks, then as interior design project manager on the restoration of Bridgewater House, St James before going freelance to do directors flats. I moved to Sussex in the mid 90s and took over Mosaic Interiors in 2005. I have recently completed a two year refurbishment project on a Sussex home but not all projects are local; I have liaised closely with a client in Norway, completed two family homes near Chichester as well as flats and houses in London.
Approach: My role is to interpret the client’s vision and then organise and project manager the various trades to implement the design, from a single room to a complete refurbishment. Each project is individually tailored to suit the client’s requirement with an initial meeting at the property to establish how to proceed.
Complete refurbishment: Prior to the building work commencing I will liaise with the client, the architect and building contractor to produce a written specification for the interior fixtures and fittings including: radiator & electrical positions, lighting & furniture layouts, paint colours, wardrobe, bathroom and the kitchen designs enabling the builder to produce an accurate price for the job. Simple plans can be drawn up to accompany the proposal where necessary. Once the building work starts I will liaise closely with the client and building contractor to ensure the job runs efficiently and cost effectively.
Soft furnishings: I will work together with the client on the schemes and produce an estimate for approval prior to ordering. Mosaic Interiors has accounts and an extensive library of both traditional and contemporary fabrics and wallpapers from all the major suppliers as well as brochures illustrating upholstery and lighting.
Portfolio: There are no photographs on my website as I cannot control the use of them once they are on the web and I feel a client’s home is private. I do have photographs of previous projects that client’s can view.
Interior Design Consultancy
An initial visit to the property to meet the client and get a general feel for the job and how best to proceed is the first step and includes a brief written report. A budget can then be established and the furnishing schemes or design proposals prepared accordingly. There is a charge for this initial visit.
Design consultancy: an estimate of hours involved and a reporting programme will be agreed and the design work will be charged on an hourly rate with a half day/full day rate if working in London.
Soft furnishings only: samples will be produced for approval and an estimate prepared prior to ordering, there will be no design fee charged after the initial consultation if the soft furnishings are ordered through Mosaic Interiors.
