earth materials that limit my impact on the environment

my working practice

for the past ten years I have painted with ground earth pigments blended in my developed homemade soya milk binder on linen and vintage hemp; materials that limit my impact on the environment and reconnects my work to the land.

using a blue mineral pigment that contains cobalt gives me muted blues when mixed with ochres

the starting point for my work is the preparation of the binder - a grounding mindful process

hand stitching

the slow mediative repetition of hand stitching stills the mind and is reminiscent of the time spent walking and observing.
