UK textile artist Susie Koren initially studied Interior Design at Chelsea School of Art, later undertaking the City & Guild Quilting Diploma.  Working from her Sussex studio, she exhibits internationally in Quilt Art shows, is selected for the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the Royal West of England Academy, Discerning Eye, Sussex Contemporary amongst others.   Awards include the Fine Art Textile Award and the Royal Cambrian Academy Selectors Prize. Published magazine and online interviews and her Keynote Speech for the 2024 SAQA Conference provide an overview of her work.   Susie teaches an inspirational 2 day workshops sharing her Observational Sketchbook Practice with an introductions to working with earth pigments using the soya milk binder she developed.

Susie’s investigation over a decade ago to find a biodegradable binder to colour cloth that would not adversely impact the fragile “Site of Special Scientific Interest”environment where she lives resulted in the discovery of a Japanese homemade soya milk recipe she adapted  and has used exclusively since to paint ground earth pigments onto natural fibres
