sketchbook workshop
perfect for beginners and experienced artists alike
sketchbook workshop
at my studio on Ashdown Forest
2 days workshop: 9.30-5pm
(beginners and established artists)
£350 per student including materials light lunch and refreshments
The workshop aims to inspire an observational sketchbook practice sharing innovative and intuitive ways to visually document resources. Connecting to land, walking, gathering, observing is fundamental to immerse yourself in place, slowing down to notice and experience the repetitive rhythms of nature.
On the first morning we will go out onto the Ashdown Forest to find a quiet space to sit, reflect, gather materials, briefly record colour, line, texture, write notes as inspiration for your work
Combining outdoor exploration with studio practice students are encouraged to be playful, curious, exploring mark making and experimental drawing techniques using found objects and earth pigments.
I will demonstrate how to prepare the biodegradable soya milk binder I use to paint earth pigments on cloth & paper and you will have the opportunity to try out the process
One-to-one mentoring sessions to evaluate your outcomes, guidance on how to push boundaries to expand your understanding of the various creative processes to help you discover what resonates with you.
The workshop offers a small nurturing space to to inspire and encourage the establishment of a rewarding and versatile sketchbook practice, your own private reflective space to investigate ideas, a place to doodle, journal thoughts - it can be whatever you want it to be.
